A tree, having long since died and collapsed into the James River, languishes at the edge of the tide. It sits now as a petrified artifact of its former self, resembling a massive piece of coral washed ashore. The sun has set, the horizon has an orange glow, and the river has turned to a dark violet, leaving the roots of this petrified structure as a warped silhouette on the quiet waves.
